In North Carolina, proudly known as the “First in Freedom” state, that spirit has always run deep. From the Mecklenburg Declaration of Independence to the Halifax Resolves, North Carolinians helped lead the first calls for independence and shaped the birth of a new nation grounded in self-determination.

Today, as we approach our 250th anniversary, we are once again called to move our country FORWARD by dissolving old political bands and reconstituting new ones in order for all Americans to assume, among the partisan powers, their separate and equal station. For Americans who still put freedom first, being part of the 250 Club is more than a celebration of our nation’s founding—it is a commitment to independence and to the belief that people, not parties, have a right to self-determination.
