Background
Bob Drach is a highly decorated Financial Management professional who brings an impressive resume to his campaign for New Hanover County Commissioner. With a Bachelor of Science in Physics, a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from the Stanford Graduate School of Business, and as both a Certified Management Accountant (CMA) and Certified Turnaround Professional (CTP) from the Institute of Management Accountants and Turnaround Management Association, respectively, few candidates match Bob's qualifications on paper. Few, however, also match his commitment to public service and dedication to sound financial management and governance for the County. As a former Peace Corps volunteer and long-tenured business leader in the Wilmington area, Bob now turns his attention to his home County, where he will focus on reducing debt and service costs, preserving conservation areas, and education funding.
Forward, Again
After his unsuccessful 2024 bid as the Libertarian candidate for State Auditor, Bob now runs for the New Hanover County Commissioner seat as a Forward-aligned Libertarian. His overall objective is to answer calls from constituents and unaffiliated voters for alternatives to the two-party system while encouraging new and competing ideas across the County. As a Forward-Libertarian, Bob is positioning himself as the clear choice for unaffiliated, third-party, and independent-minded voters. If elected, he will carry our movement forward, emphasizing the need to find common ground, use real financial data to drive effective solutions, and build from the bottom up to improve quality of life and financial stability for the County.
Issues & Advocacy
Throughout his campaign, Bob will be emphasizing the key issues facing New Hanover County today, including:
- Fiscal responsibility and debt reduction
- Keeping growth in line with infrastructure
- Protecting green space as growth maxes out
- Focusing on schools, public health, and safety
